A dinner for potential donors was held at the home of Suzy and Hawk Pingree on May 15. Mark purchased food from various market vendors for an 8 course meal.
The Ag Guild will have a booth at the Farmers' Market on June 13 and Mark Madsen and Lovel Pratt will hold a meeting afterward at 1:30 to bring you up to date on the PFM project and to answer questions.
In addition, Mark has offered to host a vendor training cocktail party for interested FMA members on the evening of June 17. He will present talking points to convey a consistent message to our market customers. If you are interested in attending, please respond to Mark for more details at mark@mmadsen.org or 378-0902 or see him at the market on Saturday.
A fundraising walking tour and dinner is scheduled for June 28 at three adjoining farms: Sweet Earth Farm, Mitchell Bay Farm & Nursery, and Lacrover Farm. The dinner will feature food from the 3 farms. The cost is $200 per person and is targeted at those who are not likely to be major donors but can afford the contribution. Please spread the word to your appropriate customers.
We have proposed a co-sponsored Farmers’ Market/Ag Guild Harvest dinner and auction in September. The only Saturday the Mullis Center is available is September 26. We will continue to work with the FMA officers to get consensus on details and sharing of the proceeds.
Reminder: to assist with event planning, please let Mark know what ingredients you will have available throughout the summer and fall. In general, your contributions will be purchased (any discount you can offer will be appreciated) and your farm/business highlighted at the event.
A purchase and sales agreement presented to the current owners of the Nichols Street property was not accepted. We are waiting for a counter-proposal.
Repeat reminder: In a survey last year, several vendors indicated a need for refrigeration/freezer capabilities at the PFM. At the recent FMA meeting, we discussed tradeoffs of storage space versus refrigeration/freezer space. We are asking members to please give us an update on what PFM facility infrastructure is needed on site.
