Board Meeting

March 4, 2009
Location: San Juan Islands Conservation District

Board members present:

Board Members (with representation): Richard Anderson (at large), Jane Burton-Bell (ARC), Bruce Gregory (CD), Candace Jagel (WSU Ext.), Elaine Kendall (SJIFMA), Mark Madsen (at large), Rebecca Moore (SJIFMA), Suzy Pingree (at large), Bill Watson (EDC), Rev Shannon, (SJC Fair), Madden Surbaugh (restaurants), Peggy Weir (SJIFMA)

Board members absent: David Bauermeister (NABC), Greg Hertel (Port of FH), Rick Hughes (Orcas Farmers Market), Rob Waldron (IGFC)

Project Director: Lovel Pratt

The meeting convened at 1:00 p.m.

MINUTES

Motion (by Bill, seconded by Mark): We approve the February minutes with the changes suggested by Lovel. The motion passed unanimously.

PROJECT MANAGER'S REPORT

Motion (by Jane, seconded by Madden): We agree that the Ag Guild should seek to become a San Juan Island Community Foundation Philanthropic Partner.

Motion (by Mark, seconded by Candace): The Property Acquisitions Committee should take the necessary steps to lock in a purchase price with the property owner and put down earnest money. The agreement will be approved by the board. The motion passed unanimously.

ELECTION OF BOARD OFFICERS

Motion (by Mark, seconded by Rebecca): We will maintain the same slate of officers. The motion passed with abstentions, as relevant, of the current officers.

ICL PROGRAM

Agreed by consensus: Madden (with the help of the ARC) will put together a proposal, including a budget, recommending how the Ag Guild could administer the Island Certified Local program.
