Board Meeting
July 7, 2008
Location: San Juan Islands Conservation District

Present:

Board Members (with representation): David Bauermeister (NABC), Jane Burton-Bell (ARC), Bruce Gregory (CD), Candace Jagel (WSU Ext.), Megan Jones (at large), Elaine Kendall (SJIFMA), Rebecca Moore (SJIFMA), Cloud Oakes (at large), Suzy Pingree (at large), Bill Watson (EDC), Peggy Weir (SJIFMA)

Absent: Greg Hertel (Port of FH), Rick Hughes (OIFM), Madden Surbaugh (restaurants), Rob Waldron (IGFC)

Project Director: Lovel Pratt

The meeting convened at 1:30 p.m.

MINUTES

Motion (by Bill, seconded by Elaine): We approve the minutes as written. The motion was passed unanimously.

TREASURER'S REPORT

Motion (by Cloud moved, seconded by Rebecca): The Ag Guild will take responsibility for the NABC survey of San Juan County ag producers. For this work, the Ag Guild will receive $2500 from NABC. The motion was approved unanimously.

Action item: Bill, as Ag Guild treasurer, will issue a bill to NABC for $2500.

PROJECT MANAGER'S REPORT

Motion (by Cloud, seconded by Elaine): We agree to enter into a contract with the EDC to provide the deliverables specified in the CTED grant application dated July 22. The motion was approved unanimously, with two abstentions (Bruce and Bill, EDC board members).

Action item: Bill will follow up with Cathy Cavenaugh to see whether the nonprofit application has been sent off.

FUNDRAISING
Dinner event:
Agreed: There should be a FMA member and an Ag Guild board member at each of the 12 tables.

Action item: Peggy will let the FMA members know that the Guild needs donations of items to raffle and sell.

RAPID MARKET ASSESSMENT

Action items: Lovel and Suzy will develop the ongoing RMAs. Candace will pass along possible RMA questions, developed but not used for the last RMA.

AG GUILD DISPLAY AT THE FAIR

Elaine is organizing the Ag Guild contribution to the Ag Tent.

Next Ag Guild board meeting, followed by a scarecrow-making party and potluck, is Tuesday, August 5, 4:30 p.m.
